The Problem

A non-partisan Political Action Network, comprising over 100 partner organizations across the state, faced a challenge in effectively training its staff and volunteers on voter registration laws and procedures. Existing training methods were loosely organized synchronous online sessions, leaving partners across the state struggling to participate. As a result, many partners faced inadequate training, putting them at risk of litigation, fines, or prosecution. To address this issue, the Political Action Network aimed to provide up-to-date and easily accessible training to its state partners and volunteers, ensuring compliance with voter registration laws and mitigating potential consequences such as fines or jail time due to knowledge gaps among activists and organizers. The Network wanted to create an online school of training courses designed to equip grassroots organizers with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to engage and mobilize their communities for social, political, environmental change in a meaningful and engaging way.

The Solution

The solution involved creating captivating and interactive eLearning modules, aligned with state voter registration legislation, and introducing an Organizer Certification program. These modules were carefully crafted using content from subject matter experts, live webinars, and previous training materials. With gamification techniques, the course incorporated interactive elements, quizzes, and decision-making scenarios to boost engagement and provide immediate feedback, resulting in a heightened learning experience for the learners.

From there, each additional hour of finished e-learning content adds about an additional month to the schedule.
